Learn more about our customized differential pressure sensor

Over 30 years of experience in differential pressure monitoring

Our silicon pressure sensors have a piezoresistive sensor with a welded metal diaphragm; standardized measuring ranges from 0 bar to 40 bar, an exceptionally high overload resistance, and excellent long-term stability due to the use of 316 L stainless steel. Silicon sensors are used in many industries and applications.

Things to know about the differential pressure measurement method

What is differential pressure?

Differential pressure is the difference between two prevailing pressure values. It is, therefore, the pressure difference between two systems that are measured. It can be used, for example, to determine the hydrostatic level in a vessel or the mass flow through a pipeline.

What is a differential pressure transducer?

A differential pressure transducer measures continuously occurring pressure differences in liquids, vapors or gases. The hydrostatic level in a closed vessel or the mass flow through a pipeline can be calculated from the differential pressure. Our differential pressure sensor forms the basis for the design of a high-quality differential pressure transducer.

What is a differential pressure transmitter?

A transmitter can measure and control different types of pressure (absolute pressure, gauge pressure, differential pressure). Accordingly, a differential pressure transmitter measures the pressure applied to a measuring diaphragm as the difference between two pressure levels. The electrical output signal recorded in this process is finally evaluated.

How does the silicon pressure sensor technology work?

Our differential pressure transducers are based on a piezoresistive silicon sensing element. A filling oil transfers the pressure from a stainless-steel diaphragm to a resistance measuring bridge. High accuracy and reproducibility are possible with the differential pressure measurement with a silicon sensor. Finally, the differential pressure-dependent change in the bridge output voltage is measured and further processed.

How is a silicon pressure sensor constructed?

The structure of a silicon pressure sensor in detail: The main components are the two diaphragms, the centrally located silicon sensor, as well as the oil filling, and a process connection.
