More options for customized solutions

The pressure transducers UTC30 can now be customized to be even more modular. The robust ceramic measuring cell remains at their heart.

Our focus is on working in partnership with customers. An interdisciplinary team from development, product management and sales ensure that user requirements are implemented in the best possible way. Under the umbrella of the measurement technology manufacturer, Endress+Hauser, the Sensors&Components division specializes in customer-centric solutions.

One example is the Ceracore UTC30 pressure transducer. At the heart of the transducer is a ceramic capacitive pressure sensor. The extended possibilities that Endress+Hauser Sensors&Components now offers for the Ceracore UTC30 transducer are listed below.

The innovations at a glance:

  • Closed housing with various connection options: Facilitates integration into the application. In addition to cable glands and M12 plugs, a special level probe version is also available.
  • Pottable capsule: Additional protection of components, combined with the advantages of a compact design.
  • Optimized electronics: Increased EMV protection enables use in challenging environmental conditions.
  • Even greater selection of process connections: For example, a design optimized for hygienic applications.
  • 4-20mA output: For easy integration into analog systems.
  • Extended temperature and pressure range: Extended application possibilities for temperatures from -40°C to 125°C and pressure measuring ranges up to 100bar.
  • MID capability: Suitable for custody transfer and MID applications.
  • Tooling kits prepared software packages and electronics kits (compatible with Arduino and STM32) for quick and easy integration into customer systems.

As usual, the Ceracore UTC30 pressure transducer can be configurated with an analog or digital output signal as well as certifications, final test reports and certificates.

The transducer is based on the ceramic capacitive pressure sensor

We aim to support our customers goals with expertise and high-quality technology. But what exactly does this mean in practice? The USC30 ceramic measuring cell, for example, plays an important role here. It forms the basis of the Ceracore UTC30 pressure transducer. The USC30 ceramic capacitive pressure sensor is characterized by three major advantages:

  • Robustness: In challenging process environments, measuring cells with metal diaphragms can fail due to conditions such as abrasion, aggressive sludge, pressure surges and careless handling. This risk is significantly lower with ceramic capacitive pressure sensors. The ceramic sensor diaphragm consists of 99.9 % high-purity ceramic (Al2O3) and is therefore ideal for use in harsh environments.
  • Accuracy: The ceramic-capacitive pressure sensors from Endress+Hauser Sensors&Components use an ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) to generate the digital and analog output signals. To optimize the measuring accuracy, the sensors are calibrated via pressure and temperature. This measure enables the pressure sensor to achieve very good measurement repeatability and minimal hysteresis. This simplifies the optimal monitoring of production processes as no additional calibration is required even for small measuring ranges and yet highly accurate measurements are still achieved.
  • Overload resistance: The ceramic sensor can withstand pressure peaks of up to 40 times the nominal pressure. This is possible because the ceramic diaphragm remains against the base body in the event of overpressure and returns to a linear function as soon as there is no overpressure anymore. Overpressure events can be easily identified using the digital output signal. This makes it easier to track the pressure curve in the process.

The ceramic-capacitive pressure sensor can be used to measure pressure ranges from 100 mbar to 100 bar absolute or relative pressure. Ou customers can choose from a range of standardized measuring ranges or configure them individually.
